Lol Tolhurst on FashioNation Street
We set Lol up with some sweet Dr. Martens. Â He said he had this pair back in the day and always wanted to replace them, go figure we had the exact pair and size for him.. we kind'a rock that way!

Founding member of The Cure, Lol Tolhurst signed this Super cool and incredibly rare harlequin 8 eye Dr. Marten for our collection.  He stopped in during his book tour for Cured: Two Imaginary boys.  The Doc 8 eye boot was brought back to us by a customer who purchased it back in the 1990's - he asked us to do something special with the pair, I can't think of anything more Bad Ass than this!
There has been many 'best days' at the shop - but this may top the list!  Curt Smith and Jamie Wollam came to the shop.  Never in a million years did i think we'd get the chance to have them in.  With the wonders of Facebook, i sent Jamie Wollam a note (drummer since 2010) and boom! they came to the shop.  TFF played Red Rocks on the 10/3 and they had a date to play in the Spring on the 5th so they had down time and wanted to see the city.  We set them up with Dr. Martens.  Curt Smith is a big fan of the brand and has been since he was a kid and he loved our selection.  Finally deciding on a pair of 8 eye burgundy Vegan boots - not because he didn't wear leather but he loved the color!
Knowing they were coming to the shop, I brought all my early TFF albums & singles to get signed.  Curt was more than gracious in signing them - telling the stories about how the covers came about, who was on them etc.. So when you hear me play Tears at the club you know Curt had his hands on these records!
Curt was really good sport. Â We do ticket giveaways for concert all the time at the shop and we had to draw a few names for the upcoming Pennywise concert. Â We asked Curt to do it on video and he was up for the challenge ... that was just a little fun!!!!
If ever a chance to see a show at Red Rocks - go, the venue is magical.  TFF was playing on the 3rd at Red Rocks, we already had tickets to see them but Jamie met up with us after and took us all back stage for a Meet and Greet.  Then he took care of us at the Colorado Spring show on the 5th.  We sat in the very back at the Pikes Peak Center and during the show Curt was greeting the crowd and commented 'it's nice to see you all up close and those in the back we'll see you later", i can only assume he meant us as we did join them after the show
This rare John Fluevog Dr. Marten Wingtip boot was made a little more special with them being autographed by Tears for Fears.  Another Soul for the boot collection, these were purchased back in the early 1990's at our shop and were brought back to us in hopes to make into the Rock Star collection.  Well they made it in a big way!  ( thanks Michael )
A long awaited return of The Specials to FashioNation.   Neville Staple had stopped in 20 years ago but this time was 'Special' ;)  we traded some super cool Dr. Martens for tickets and the VIP treatment!  (stylish choice, Neville picked some rare Grey Crocodile Gibsons)  We got their contact info from Echo & the Bunnymen's tour manager.  It can be hard to get a hold of these bands, sometimes they won't answer band unless it comes from a trusted source. - Rest in Peace Terry
Back in 2011 we had the Go-Go's in the shop.  I asked Jane Wiedlin to sign my copy of Fun Boy Three's 'Waiting' as she co-wrote "Our Lips are Sealed" with Terry Hall.  Never thought i'd get the chance to have Terry sign it too, but with this visit with The Specials, it all came full circle!
More boots for the collection  The boys from The Specials signed up this vintage pair of Fluevog Dr. Martens.. there is probably only a few stores in the US that even knew Fluevog used DM soles...  and yes, they are from our shop!
