Psychedelic soul for the boot collection!
Psychedelic soul for the boot collection!
The Second time in the shop and Andy was just as 'brash, outrageous and free' as before! You know that feeling when you meet your heroes and they don't suck.. ya - like that. great guy!!! (with store kid jamie, my daughters Syd & Mia)
Not often you get to Meet one's Maker - We got to.. John Lydon & PIL were playing the Gothic up the street from the shop. We were in on the promotion with a ticket giveaway and a meet & greet for the show. (we tried to get the band in the shop but no luck sometimes you just can't get through to the right person) So with the meet & greet i asked if my wife Pam and I could go to it thinking 2 more people wouldn't make be any big deal... It was... Little did i know there were only the 2 people that won the Meet & Greet from our store and 2 more from Twist & Shout (another legendary Denver record store) This was a crazy, personal, intimate party after the show that i will treasure forever. I mean, PBR's with Johnny fuck'n Rotten, ya, that happened
Another great time with Skinny Puppy. the boys played The boulder Theatre so there wasn't time to come to the shop. Ogre set us up with tickets and passes to hang out after the show which was SWEET! We brought them some Tripp NYC jeans and Dr. Martens boots from the shop Always a blast with these guys!
So much of my music collection has David J in it! Two of my very favorite bands, Bauhaus and Love & Rockets. David was in town doing a Dj set, he was hanging out with my old Boss at Rock Island, Dave Clamage, when they stopped by. He signed a bunch of vinyl which was rad!
A 'foot note' - a pair of signatures 19 years apart. David J signed our wall back in 1996, this is one of the few autographs we were able to keep from the old store. I showed it to him during his visit and he signed our new wall with the matching left foot. We have it framed in the new shop.
Fred Schneider had come to the shop in 2013, when he came back to Denver he set us up with passes for the big New Wave show at Fiddlers green. We got to meet Kate this time which was cool - all 5 feet of her! The B-52's forever!!!
You Know What You Are? Well I know what Al is... He's crazy, over the top nuts, friendly & fun - everything you dream about in a Rock Star. He's blasted my ears & lit my dance floors on fire in every club i've been a part of. Huge fan, i've loved him since i saw him at the Rainbow in '83
Ministry Loves FashioNation!! ya, i'm good with that, really really good with that!
I've followed this band since 'You Trip Me Up' was released back in 1985. Not in Nine Million Rainy Days did we think JAMC would walk through our door, but it happened. A simple note on Facebook and there they were. Out on tour supporting Psychocandy's 30th anniversary release, Jesus & Mary Chain were playing that night at the Ogden theatre. We made a few phone calls and were able to set them up with a bunch of our best from Dr. Martens.
